The first race car developed by Audi Sport specifically for customer teams is a hot seller. More than 130 race cars based on the Audi R8 have been built. Pros and amateur race drivers alike appreciate the qualities of the mid-engine sportscar – and celebrate success by the dozen. More than 50 racecars of the new Audi R8 LMS have been delivered to Audi customer teams already.
Since 2009, Audi has firmly established itself in the growth market of international GT3 racing – on a sporting level, the brand is credited with 28 championship victories. At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015, Audi unveiled a fundamentally new R8 LMS, which sets new benchmarks in aerodynamics, lightweight design and safety areas.
quattro GmbH and its customers keep revving up the successful track record of the GT3 programme that was launched in 2009. In the past two years the racing car won several overall titles in Australia, Asia and Europe. In 2015 Robin Frijns celebrated overall victory in the drives' classification of the Blancpain GT Series. The Audi Sport Team WRT won the 24h Nürburgring with the new R8 LMS.
To drive an Audi R18 or RS 5 DTM just once – only a select few will ever fulfil this dream. However, there is a race car that shares the genes of its victorious brothers in professional racing and which is available to everyone: the Audi R8 LMS. Developed specifically for customer teams to race, the Audi R8 race version enjoy great popularity – in Europe just the same as in Asia and America. Audi Sport customer racing provides support to all its customer teams racing around the entire world.
